Responsibilities & Opportunities

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, execution, and closure of engineering projects for Sika’s factories and various business units according to the business guidelines and needs of the company. The Project Engineer reports to the Director, Process Technology and will provide site support and work directly with the teams and contacts local to the execution of the project and report on progress or challenges throughout the entire project lifecycle.

  • Develop or support development of project key objectives and deliverables, detailed project plans and budgets in alignment with the overall company and operations strategy.
  • Understand quality standards for products, manufacturing processes and maintenance. Develop effective engineering solutions in collaboration with local plant.
  • Build trusting relationships in teams and develop partnerships with all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for support and preparation of project approval requests for capital expenditures according to company investment guidelines.

Preferred Skills

  • Education: BS degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical preferred).
  • 3-10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record in the management of engineering activities in chemical process plants, preferably construction chemicals (Polyurethane and silicone adhesives, cementitious systems, coatings, concrete polymers and/or membranes).
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines.
  • Proven experience in project planning and execution, and process engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with teams and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Capability to drive decisions with ability to present proposals effectively to senior management as well as plant personnel.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project). Experience with AUTOCAD or similar design software preferred.
