Position Summary

The Innovation & Sustainability (I&S) PMO Manager plays a crucial role in driving efficiency, governance, and strategic alignment within the I&S function. This role ensures that R&D projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with business objectives.

The I&S PMO Manager will work closely with Innovation & Sustainability project managers, other department PMOs, stakeholders across various functions, and executive leadership to align R&D projects with the company’s strategic vision. They will be responsible for establishing standardized project management frameworks, optimizing resource allocation, monitoring risks, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. By acting as a bridge between I&S and the other departments such as Operations, Procurement, Finance, Marketing, etc., this role ensures that projects meet innovation goals while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency. Additionally, the I&S PMO Manager will drive continuous improvement in project execution, leveraging data-driven insights and best practices to enhance decision-making at all levels.

Main function/responsibility/competencies

  • Develop and implement standardized project management frameworks, tools, and best practices for the Innovation & Sustainability (I&S) department.
  • Align I&S projects with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and innovation goals.
  • Oversee the I&S project portfolio, ensuring efficient resource allocation, timeline adherence, and budget control.
  • Work closely with I&S department manager, scientists, project managers, other PMOs, and cross-functional teams to ensure integration and synergy.
  • Provide executive leadership with data-driven insights, reports, and dashboards for informed decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate governance standards.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between I&S, Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional project review meetings, ensuring clear communication and resolution of roadblocks.
  • Implement digital tools and dashboards to enhance project tracking, reporting, and automation.
  • Drive continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and best practices in project execution.

PMOマネージャーは、イノベーション & サステナビリティのプロジェクトマネージャー、他部門のPMO、各機能のステークホルダー、経営層と緊密に連携し、R&Dプロジェクトを企業の戦略ビジョンに適合させる役割を担います。また、標準化されたプロジェクト管理フレームワークの確立、リソース最適化、リスク管理、部門横断的なコラボレーションの促進を担当します。本ポジションは、オペレーション、調達、財務、マーケティングなどの他部門とI&Sの架け橋となり、イノベーション目標の達成、コンプライアンス遵守、業務効率の向上を確保します。さらに、データドリブンな分析とベストプラクティスを活用し、プロジェクトの実行レベルを継続的に向上させます。

    Qualifications & Experience

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in project management with a focus on collaboration and team growth.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating stakeholder engagement at all levels.
    • Strong skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, and project execution within dynamic environments.
    • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Stage-Gate, Waterfall, etc.).
    • Proficiency with PM tools (MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet, Power BI) – training provided for the right candidate.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and supporting diverse teams.
    • Position open for both natives and foreigners who masters Japanese language.
    • English skills ideally minimum on intermediate level.

    Preferred (but not required – we encourage all to apply!):

    • Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) – we support professional development!
    • Experience in R&D-driven industries (pharmaceuticals, technology, manufacturing, consumer goods, etc.).
    • Financial planning and budget management experience for R&D projects.

    応募資格・経験

    必須要件（Required）

    • プロジェクト管理の経験7年以上（チームとの協働・成長を重視）
    • 部門横断的なチームと協働し、各レベルのステークホルダーとのエンゲージメントを促進する経験
    • 戦略的計画立案、問題解決、ダイナミックな環境でのプロジェクト実行スキル
    • プロジェクト管理手法（Agile、Stage-Gate、Waterfallなど）への理解
    • PMツールの使用経験（MS Project、JIRA、Smartsheet、Power BI）
      • 適任者にはトレーニング提供
    • 優れたコミュニケーション能力・リーダーシップスキルを持ち、多様なチームの指導・サポートに情熱を持つ
    • 日本語を習得している方（日本人・外国人問わず応募可）
    • 英語スキル（中級レベル以上推奨）
