POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible to ensure that all employees work mindful of their safety, the safety of their co-workers and to assist the employees in exceeding our customer’s expectations.
This is a permanent, on-site position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production: Schedule the timely, accurate, and safe production of all manufactured stock and made to order products. Appropriately allocating plant personnel and optimize line time and equipment. Operating all plant machinery and equipment safely.
- Inventory: Order/schedule daily requirements for cement and aggregates inventory. Collaborate with the Planner for raw materials, packaging and pallets ensuring sufficient supply. Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisor in adherence to a "first in first out" system. Conduct monthly cyclical counts and annual inventory counts.
- Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies. Manage safe and healthy work practices of all employees.
- HR/Coaching & Mentoring: Supervise hourly employees and maintain a positive work environment. Build strong employee morale, and development of operational personnel.
- Environment & Quality Control: Ensure quality control by arranging for production samples to be taken and forwarded to the Testing laboratory, notifying lab personnel of the daily production schedule, and providing accurate checks on production operators for proper materials, packaging, and weights.
- Reporting: Generate and submit reports on time to Plant Manager. Keep accurate records.
- Customer Service: Communicate with internal customers, Plant Manager, Planner, Logistics and Sales Representative to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Operations Analysis and Action Tracking: Track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
- Plant Image: Maintains the plant in accordance with standard guidelines, ensure all policies are followed.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Due to the support provided to the Production, Shipping, and Operations team, the employee works in manufacturing plants with or around moving machinery/equipment, including identified substances (silica), which may require the use of a respirator at times.
- High level of occupational stress due to adapting to situations, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
- Mostly day shift but may be required to work evening and night shifts to meet operational needs.
- Ergonomic workspace provided
- Frequent phone and email communication throughout full work shifts.
- Substantial repetitive physical effort required – ability to lift up to 30kg

Your expertise - Our strength
- Education: College Degree combined with basic training in production management
- Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing supervisor experience
- Bilingual in French and English although French not required outside the province of Quebec
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately
- Working knowledge and experience in ERP systems, specifically SAP
- Strong and quick decision-making
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel)
- Self-motivated
- Available to work overtime as needed
